What we want

The Genealogical-Heraldic Society of Berne (GHGB) aims to achieve the promotion of genealogical research and heraldry.

The society organizes lectures and excursions, as well as classes, and promotes the exchange of research. We publish a bulletin twice a year.

The GHGB is a member of the Swiss Genealogical Society, SGFF, and promotes their goals as well. We are also a member of the association of the computer-genealogy with its headquarters in Germany. This membership offers each of our members to take part in a members-only mailing list.

We have about eight meetings a year that are usually open to the public.
The lectures take part at the University of Berne, Institut für Exakte Wissenschaften - Department for exact sciences, Sidlerstrasse 5, 3012 Bern, room 77 or 78. For our convivial gatherings / social events we meet at the Restaurant Beaulieu, Erlachstrasse 2, 3012 Bern, only a few minutes from the main railway station.

Established: September 11, 1933
Yearly membership fee: CHF 45.--, CHF 50.-- for non-Swiss residents.

Number of members: 228 (as of february 2012)
